Getting an impressive start from Jason Mejía, Ballard beat Redwood by the score of 7-0. Mejía, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. The Beavers now have a mark of 27-20.
With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out in the top of the fifth inning, designated hitter Kevin Hancock delivered big for the Beavers. Ballard was leading 1-0 when he belted a 3-run home run.
