Bowties Turn Back New Orleans, 6-4
|
The Buckhead Bowties knocked off the New Orleans Voodoo, 6-4, at 5 Paces Park. José Valéncia, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Buckhead won. The center fielder went 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Buckhead reliever Yajirobei Otomo picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Fernando Padilla was saddled with the loss. Buckhead, now 9-6, has gotten their season off to a good start.
The Bowties got a big at-bat from shortstop Richard Jost. For the game, Jost was 1-3 with a double and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave Buckhead a 6-4 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Valéncia told the Buckhead Chronicle.
