Northwest Territory overcame a superlative game from Kini Grinter to beat Newcastle, 3-2. The Newcastle pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 1-hit ball. Imad bin Wa'il picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Pablo Rivera was tagged with the loss. Northwest Territory now sits at 23-42, while Newcastle falls to 21-44.
Late in the game, designated hitter Manabu Abe had a big at-bat for Northwest Territory. In the bottom of the 13th, he hit a run-scoring single off Foeke Advocaat. The play gave the Beavers a 3-2 lead.
"Feels good to get the job done," Abe said after the game.
