Victory Pushes Rainbow Mermaids Record to 20-16
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids faced a tough opponent in Thunder Bay pitcher Juan Guillén, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Atlantica by a final score of 5-4. Guillén went 8 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Northern Virginia starter Juan Díaz was credited with the win after throwing 93 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 4-1. The Rainbow Mermaids bumped their record to 20-16 with this latest triumph.
Nobuhisa Hatoyama, who is tied for 9th in the SL in triples with 1, aided the Northern Virginia cause with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the center fielder went 1 for 3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Hatoyama said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
