The Franklin Fire cruised to a 13-1 win over the Newcastle Mermen at Newcastle Stadium today. Broderick Sarcoma led the way, going 3-for-5 for Franklin. The Mermen, at 19-38, have lost 8 straight games.

Franklin took the lead in the top of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Kent Maxwell stroked a 2-run double to make it 3-1, Fire.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Maxwell. "And not try to do too much."
