The Franklin Fire beat the Newcastle Mermen, 13-6, at Newcastle Stadium. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman Broderick Sarcoma, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-5 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Newcastle, at 19-37, has lost 7 straight.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Fire manager Mark Davis. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
