Northwest Territory got a terrific performance from pitcher Carlos Hernández, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ladue Rams. Ladue won the Ballpark of Wellsville contest, 5-1. Hernández was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 6-hit ball. David Wright picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Carlos Hernández was tagged with the loss. Northwest Territory's current losing streak has reached 5 games.
The Rams got a big at-bat from third baseman Chris McBride. For the game, McBride was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Ladue a 4-1 lead.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," McBride said after the game.
