Rainbow Mermaids Come Up Short at Charleston
Charleston withstood an impressive performance by Northern Virginia second baseman Eustacio Tafalla to defeat the Rainbow Mermaids, 6-5, at Charleston Armory. Tafalla was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Hiroaki Kouda closed it out for his 7th save. The 7th-place Battery lifted their record to 14-19.

Vicente Gonzáles, who is tied for 7th in the SL in triples with 1, contributed to the Charleston win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Gonzáles told the Charleston Daily.
