Rams Come Back Late to Clip Beavers
|
The Ladue Rams beat the Northwest Territory Beavers, 5-4, at Beaver Town. The win was largely due to the efforts of third baseman Chris McBride, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The winner was Hsiao-lou Lei, who threw 126 pitches over 8.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 9 hits. Juan Colón earned his 4th save in 4 tries.
McBride had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-1 fastball from Terry Hall, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Rams a 5-4 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for McBride.
"We played hard and won," said McBride. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
The winning streak has now reached 7 games for the Rams.
