Thundercats Jolt Battery with Late Rally
|
The Charleston Battery got a superb performance from pitcher Tony Alfonso, but the Richardson City Thundercats still won the game, 3-0. Alfonso was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. The win was credited to Kazuo Hamada in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Tsugahara Hori took the loss. Richardson City is now 9-21.
Had Jonathan Gunner not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Gunner hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 3-0, in favor of the Thundercats.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Gunner told the Richardson City Daily News.
