Victory Over Snowpeople Takes Capital Hill to 42-20
|
The Ellesmere Island Snowpeople and Capital Hill Interns were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at Corpus Christi Grounds.
The exploits of third baseman Ewan van der Kieft, who is tied for 4th in the PR in triples with 3, helped the Capital Hill Interns defeat the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople, 7-1. van der Kieft went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Capital Hill reliever Klaus de Lijser picked up the win to move to 1-0. Larry Walsh suffered the loss.
van der Kieft had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the top of the fifth inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Interns went on to win.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," van der Kieft told the Capital Hill Citizen.
Capital Hill improves to 42-20 with the win. They lead their division by 3˝ games.
