Ogallala Topples Ellesmere Island, 8-3
|
Fans at Nebraska Aquarium were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Ogallala Octopi take on the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople.
Alejandro Cantú led Ogallala to a win over Ellesmere Island. The final score was 8-3. Cantú scored 2 times, going 3 for 5. He also knocked in 1 run batted in. The winner was Amadi Azagba in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Yong-oon Cho took the loss.
The Octopi got a big at-bat from second baseman David Stone. For the game, Stone was 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Ogallala a 5-3 lead.
"We played hard and won," said Cantú. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
Ogallala is now riding a 3-game win streak.
