Athletic Club KC Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Thundercats
|
Starting pitcher Stanley Yelnats pitched well enough to help the Athletic Club KC beat the Richardson City Thundercats by the score of 6-4. Athletic Club KC reliever Juan Cantú picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Calvin Beck was saddled with the loss. Athletic Club KC is now 17-10, Richardson City 7-20.
The Athletic Club KC were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when designated hitter Colin Bottone turned a 2-2 fastball from Calvin Beck into a grand slam home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave Athletic Club KC a thrilling 6-4 win.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Yelnats. "Successful pitchers do it."
