Centennial Fall Short at Valley View

Fort Knox pitcher Diego Cartaya gave the Cougars all they could handle, but in the end, Valley View left Hillandale Grounds with a 6-5 win. Cartaya allowed 1 earned run on 5 hits over 7 innings. Valley View reliever Peter Routledge picked up the win to move to 2-0. Wilson Rangel suffered the loss. Valley View currently is in third place in the Premier R at 22-16.
The Cougars were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when third baseman Denis Perrin turned a 1-0 fastball from Wilson Rangel into a 3-run home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave Valley View a thrilling 6-5 win.
"Exhilarating win," said Perrin.
