Valley View rode a good effort from starter Gaberiela Tatafu to beat the Ogallala Octopi at Hillandale Grounds. The final score was 3-2. Tatafu, now 2-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Valley View is now 15-11.
Valley View took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, right fielder Gene Payne hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Payne said.
