The Octopi faced a stiff challenge from Ellesmere Island pitcher Zi-cheng Yang, but persevered to claim a win at Corpus Christi Grounds. The final score was 3-2. Yang went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Ogallala, at 8-13, sits in 8th place in the Premier R.
Abraham In de Boomgaert's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a cutter from Jian-gun Lin for a 2-run single. It put Ogallala in front, 3-2.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said In de Boomgaert.
