Surprise got a terrific performance from pitcher José Castro, but it wasn't enough to beat the Ogallala Octopi. Ogallala won the Nebraska Aquarium contest, 3-2. Castro was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings allowing 2 runs. The defending champion Octopi are off to a horrible start to the season, notching only their 6th win in 17 games.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Ogallala catcher Kao-tsu Koo, facing Henry Burge, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Octopi the 3-2 win.
"It feels good to get this one," Koo told the Ogallala Citizen.
