Rainbow Mermaids Clip Thundercats in Tight Contest
|
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Richardson City Thundercats at Atlantica. Nobody did more than pitcher Ricardo García, who captured player of the game honors. Alejandro Guerra picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-2. Miguel Aguilar was tagged with the loss. Northern Virginia is now riding a 5-game win streak.
Nobuhisa Hatoyama chipped in for Northern Virginia with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"It was a solid team effort," said García after the game.
