Cougars Get Close Win Over Sun Sox
|
The Valley View Cougars got a rain-soaked win over the Winter Haven Sun Sox at Roadrunners Stadium.
The Valley View Cougars topped the Winter Haven Sun Sox, 7-6, with youngster Tim Gonzáles playing a key role. Gonzáles was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 3 times for the Cougars in the win. Malcolm Bullard, who went 7.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 9 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 1-0.
Denis Perrin made it 5-4 in favor of Valley View when he delivered a run-scoring single. It came with two out in the top of the eighth. The Cougars went on to win.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Perrin.
With the loss, Winter Haven sinks to 1-1.
