Chua Delivers Walk-Off Win for Torch
|
The Mancelona Torch wiggled past the Provo Mango, 7-6, at Torch Field. Mancelona catcher Arend van der Veen earned player of the game honors. The win was credited to Raúl Hinojosa in relief. His record improves to 7-2. Alberto Ramos took the loss. The Torch now have a mark of 44-39.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Mancelona designated hitter Wen Chua, facing Alberto Ramos, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Torch the 7-6 win.
"It wasn't a pretty victory," said van der Veen, "but we got it done."
