|
The South Beach Blaze overcame a good performance by Washington catcher Ken Pittman to knock off Washington, 6-4, at Washington Park. Pittman was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Carlos Cardoso picked up the save for South Beach, his 6th of the year. The Blaze, now 46-34, have won 5 in a row.
Alfredo Araújo aided the South Beach cause with a 2-run double in the top of the seventh. For the game, the catcher went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs.
"We'll savor this win," Araújo told the South Beach Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
