The Valley Blue Sox wasted an impressive 6-inning effort from starter Gao Mar, falling 1-0 to the South Beach Blaze at The Heron Refuge. South Beach reliever Jacob Swanson picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Eddo Mud absorbed the loss. The Blaze now have a mark of 40-32.
Nelson López's hit in the top of the tenth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from Eddo Mud for a run-scoring double. It put South Beach in front, 1-0.
Afterward, Blaze manager Wilson Alvarado was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
