Victory Over Guzzlers Takes Valley to 42-12
|
Valley third baseman Dale Epner was instrumental in his team's 5-3 win over the Galesburg Guzzlers. Epner, who is tied for 10th in the PA with a .438 slugging percentage, went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Blue Sox. Valley reliever Markus Martin was the winner. His record is now 4-2. Jason Poulter took the loss. Eddo Mud closed the door for Valley, picking up his 6th save of the year.
With Valley leading 1-0 in the bottom of the third, Epner hit a knuckleball from Jason Poulter for a run-scoring triple. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Blue Sox ahead, 2-0.
"This was a good win," said Epner.
The Blue Sox own a robust 42-12 mark.
