Mango Cut Down Guzzlers, 7-2
|
Getting a good performance from second baseman Daniel Woods, the Provo Mango defeated the Galesburg Guzzlers, 7-2. Woods went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Mango. Nam-shik Kwak picked up the win with 7.1 innings of work. He allowed 2 earned runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 5-4. Provo occupies second place in the Premier A at 28-23.
It could have been a different outcome for Provo, had it not been for Nicol van Gorp, the 23-year old center fielder . van Gorp contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Provo up, 3-0.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Woods said after the game.
