The Mancelona Torch got a superb performance from left fielder Wen Chua. Still, it wasn't enough to beat South Beach. The Blaze won the game, 7-4. In spite of the loss, Chua was named the player of the game. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Elton Coalan, who threw 90 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 5 hits. Getting the save was Aaron Corrigan, his 2nd.

The Blaze beat the Torch in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Nelson López produced in the top of the fifth. Batting against Mancelona pitcher Billy Craig, López gave his team a 7-4 lead when he hit a bases-clearing double.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said López.

South Beach is now 12-15.
