Revolution Subdue Washington, 6-4
|
York withstood an impressive performance by Washington catcher Ken Pittman to defeat the Generals, 6-4, at Washington Park. Pittman went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Michael Leonard was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. The defending champion Revolution have struggled a bit to find their groove this season, but improve to 5-5 with the win.
Vaughn White, who is rated as the 73rd best prospect by BNN, helped out the York cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said White.
