Torch Come Back Late to Clip Blaze
Fans of the Mancelona Torch who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Mancelona win over the visiting South Beach Blaze, 5-4. Jong-yong Ha started for the home team against Elton Coalan. Ken Rodríguez earned the coveted player of the game honors. Mancelona reliever Melvin Conner picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Devoid Couch took the loss.

Charles Godard was the walk-off hero for Mancelona. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Torch designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said South Beach manager Wilson Alvarado.
