Late Rally by Coeur Secures Win
|
The St. Louis Coeur got a strong performance from pitcher Arturo Gramer, who stymied the Thunder Bay offense en route to a 3-2 win at The BFIB. The win was credited to Folkert van Huizen in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Anatoly Ivanovich took the loss. St. Louis, now 8-5, has gotten their season off to a good start.
The Coeur were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when center fielder Phil McCroskey turned a 2-0 fastball from Anatoly Ivanovich into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave St. Louis a thrilling 3-2 win.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," McCroskey said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
