U-24 Win at Syracuse, 2-1
|
The U-24 faced a stiff challenge from Syracuse pitcher Frank Butler, but persevered to claim a win at Storm Park. The final score was 2-1. Butler went 8.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Clancy Daly earned the save for Athletic Club KC, his 9th of the year. The U-24 improved to 19-35.
The U-24 got a big at-bat from center fielder Donald Guegan. For the game, Guegan went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Athletic Club KC a 2-0 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Guegan told the Athletic Club KC Citizen.
