Storm Need Extra Frames to Get Past Chiefs
|
The Syracuse Storm picked up a win at Storm Park, knocking off the Caldwell Chiefs, 2-0. On the mound for Syracuse was right-hander Carlos Simon, who played a pivotal role in the win. Syracuse reliever Francisco Ortíz picked up the win to move to 1-1. Luke Warm suffered the loss. The win pushes Syracuse to a record of 9-7.
Syracuse won the game in the bottom of the 14th inning. With one out and Luke Warm on the mound for Caldwell, left fielder Mitchell Pate hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Storm fans to their feet.
"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Simon said.
