The Toledo Stingers defeated the Charleston Battery, 14-4, in United States Silver League action at Charleston Armory. Tamasaburo Kato received player of the game honors. The 13-year veteran went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Melvin Tiburcio got the win, improving to 1-0. He worked 7 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 3. With the win, Toledo goes to 4-0.

Toledo center fielder Daniel Bertrand helped the Stingers to the win. In the top of the third inning, the 26-year old center fielder stroked a bases-clearing double. For the game, Bertrand went 3 for 6 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"We maximized our offense today," said Toledo skipper TJ Reynolds. "That makes everyone's life easier."
