Expos Sneak Past Storm, 2-1
|
The Syracuse Storm got a sterling performance from pitcher Carlos Simon, but the Expos still prevailed, 2-1. Simon was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball. Niagara Falls is off to a hot start at 2-0.
Had Fernando Sandoval not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Sandoval hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Expos.
"I really like what we did out there today," Sandoval said after the game.
