Bulls Best Airmen in Pitching Duel
|
The Alameda Airmen and Mt. Vernon Bulls provided some drama at Alameda Field.
Mt. Vernon starter Joel Walden put a stranglehold on the Alameda offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Bulls to a 2-1 win. Walden went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-0.
Samuel Barlow aided the Mt. Vernon cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1-4.
"We'll savor this win," Walden told the Mt. Vernon Times, "then get ready for the next game."
Alameda now has a 5-game losing streak.
