Caterpillars Stay Hot, Beat Hawks
|
Getting a good performance from designated hitter Raheem Sterling, the Grand Forks Caterpillars defeated the Highwood Hawks, 4-2. Sterling was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Caterpillars. Ezra Peterson picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-5. He struck out 3 in 5.2 innings. Albert Karlier, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 12th save.
Sterling contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Grand Forks in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Sterling took a knuckle curve from Kenneth Ferrell and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Caterpillars to leap in front, 2-1.
"I like our mindset right now," said Grand Forks manager Steven Hodnett.
