Cauldrons Stymie Highwood, Take 3-1 Win
|
Hogsmeade starter Alfredo Rodríguez pitched effectively against the Highwood Hawks at Gators Ballpark. The right-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. Rodríguez, now 7-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Jimmy Whitney earned the save for Hogsmeade, his 15th of the year.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the ninth inning, but Jimmy Whitney didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Highwood trailing 3-1, Whitney retired Sal Elliott to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Whitney, with a wink.
The first-place Cauldrons have a one-game lead in their division.
