Hotspur U-21 Get Close Win Over Airmen
|
Phoenix rode a fine outing from starter William Mold to victory over the Alameda Airmen at Alameda Field. The final score was 2-1. Mold got the win, improving to 8-5. He allowed 6 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Mold allowed 1 earned run. Sean Neely picked up the save for Phoenix, his 4th of the year.
One important at-bat came with a runner on 2nd in the top of the seventh inning. Facing Alameda hurler James McNeil, Carel Oskamp, who is tied for 9th in the 3A in triples with 3, hit a run-scoring single. The Hotspur U-21 went on to win.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Hotspur U-21 manager Howard Martínez, "I like our chances."
With the win, Phoenix has a record of 36-38. Alameda falls to 44-30.
