Idaho Falls Beats Eugene, 9-3
|
The Idaho Falls Chukars topped the Eugene Vandals by the score of 9-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to first baseman Aaron Day. Day went 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times for the Chukars on the day. The Vandals, at 16-50, have lost 4 straight games.
Tied up with the Vandals in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Chukars got a boost from third baseman Tadamichi Yamamoto. With the bases loaded, Yamamoto saw a first pitch changeup from Clarence Jones and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Idaho Falls on top, 4-2.
"I know we have our doubters," said Eugene manager Francisco Barrera. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
