Caterpillars Shut Out Vandals
|
In a tight game between the Grand Forks Caterpillars and the Eugene Vandals, pitcher Nate Johnstone was terrific on the mound. The Grand Forks right-hander was named the player of the game in Grand Forks's 3-0 win. Earning his 7th save of the year was Albert Karlier. Eugene, at 13-38, has lost 4 straight.
Tied up with the Vandals in the top of the fourth inning, the Caterpillars got a boost from shortstop Doug Becker. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Becker saw a 2-1 sinker from Ramon Wuilink and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Grand Forks on top, 2-0.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Johnstone told the Grand Forks Gazette.
