Mt. Vernon and Hogsmeade duked it out at Ballpark of Mt. Vernon and the Bulls came out victorious.
With second baseman Mike O'Neill leading the charge, the Mt. Vernon Bulls defeated the Hogsmeade Cauldrons, 5-4, at Ballpark of Mt. Vernon. O'Neill was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles. Mt. Vernon reliever Ramón Galván picked up the win, bumping his record to 2-0. Maximiano Mealha was collared with the loss. Joel Walden nailed down his 15th save.
Had Doug Day not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Day hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Bulls.
"Being able to contribute to a win is always a great feeling," O'Neill told the Mt. Vernon Times.
Mt. Vernon now has a 3-game win streak.
