Airmen Hang 4-2 Loss on Seahawks
|
Alameda right-hander Yajirobei Matsumoto made an effective start against the Myrtle Beach Seahawks at Alameda Field, leading his team to a 4-2 win. The winning pitcher was Matsumoto, now 5-0. He tossed 5 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 9. The Airmen now have a mark of 19-11.
Tied up with the Seahawks in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Airmen got a boost from first baseman Juan Arellano. With the bases empty, Arellano saw a first pitch fastball from António García and hit a solo home run to break the stalemate and put Alameda on top, 3-2.
"I thought we played a nice game," Matsumoto told the Alameda Observer. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
