Big Day for Hansen as River Rats Down Hawks, 16-4
|
The Columbia River Rats easily defeated the Highwood Hawks, 16-4, at Hawks Field, with shortstop Kieran Hansen a main contributor to the win. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 6 for Columbia. Jake Haynes got the win, improving to 4-3. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Columbia is now 21-9, Highwood 11-19.
Hansen had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the first, when he hit a grand slam. The River Rats went on to win.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Columbia manager Félix Cruz.
