The Reno Silver Sox wasted an inspired, 6.2-inning effort from starter Jeff Merritt, falling 2-1 to the San Bernardino Grasshoppers at Tennille Grounds. San Bernardino reliever Mark Morgan picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Dan Fletcher took the loss. The Grasshoppers now have a mark of 45-51.

The result might have been different for San Bernardino, had it not been for John Clark. The center fielder produced a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Grasshoppers ahead, 2-1. For the game, Clark had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Clark told the San Bernardino Daily.
