Mercer Island starter Darren Minich put a stranglehold on the Reno offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Screaming Eagles to a 6-1 win. The third-place Screaming Eagles have won 4 in a row.

The Screaming Eagles got a big at-bat from third baseman Ryoichi Yoshida. For the game, Yoshida hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 18th home run of the season gave Mercer Island a 3-1 lead.

"We won," Minich told assembled media after the game. "I guess that's all that really matters."
