Mercer Island got a terrific performance from pitcher Will McLeod, but it wasn't enough to beat the Biloxi Shuckers. Biloxi won the The Pizza Oven contest, 5-3. McLeod was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Luis Bustamante picked up the save, his 1st. The Shuckers now own a record of 11-19.
Diego Martínez contributed to the Biloxi win with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"It feels good to get this one," Martínez told the Biloxi News.
