The Reno Silver Sox wasted an impressive 7-inning effort from starter Kendarian Handy-Holly, falling 2-0 to the Springfield Shooters at Tennille Grounds. Springfield reliever Ricardo Pérez was the winner. His record is now 3-0. Risto Latva took the loss. Branlyn Jaraba earned his 4th save in 6 tries.
Daniel Carr took Risto Latva deep in the top of the tenth. His 2-run home run put the Shooters on top, 2-0. In all, Carr had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Springfield manager Martin Stewart said.
Springfield is now 13-11, while Reno is 13-11.
