Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Love Boats
|
Fans at Heron Field got more than they bargained for.
Mercer Island got a terrific performance from pitcher Dan Taylor, but it wasn't enough to beat the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats. Lake Minnetonka won the Heron Field contest, 5-4. Taylor was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball. Lake Minnetonka now has a 3-game win streak.
Lake Minnetonka won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With one out and Luis Oropeza on the mound for Mercer Island, pinch hitter Francisco Guerra hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Love Boats fans to their feet.
"To not win that game stings a little bit," said Mercer Island manager Omer van Osch.
