Victory Pushes Loons Record to 13-5
|
The Minnesota Loons defeated the Atlantic City Sonics, 1-0, in USPL Double A action at Loony Bin, with Minnesota pitcher Lorenzo Díaz named player of the game. In 6.2 innings, Díaz surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. Jasper Jordan picked up the save, his 6th.
José Román was 1-3 for Minnesota. The 23-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With no one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Joaquín Pérez. It was his 11th RBI of the season.
Román told a Minnesota Times reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Losses have been few and far between for the Sonics so far this season. Their record drops to 12-6.
