Tacoma Fur Traders starter Kentaro Kato turned in an exceptional performance against the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles at Ballpark of Tacoma, resulting in a Tacoma win, 8-1. Kato went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-1. Tacoma is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 5th in 17 games.

The Fur Traders got a big at-bat from first baseman Silas Givens. For the game, Givens was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 18th hit of the season gave Tacoma a 2-1 lead.
