Grasshoppers Clip Shuckers in Tight Contest
The San Bernardino Grasshoppers did just enough to secure a 5-4 victory over the Biloxi Shuckers at Field of the Grasshoppers. Nobody did more than pitcher Ralph Greer, who captured player of the game honors. The winner was San Bernardino reliever Desiderio Toccafundo, now 1-0. The loser was Bernard Cook. The loss drops Biloxi to 2-2.

Travis Towns was the walk-off hero for San Bernardino. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Grasshoppers first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It was our day today," Towns told the San Bernardino Daily. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
