The Calgary Lynx got a magnificent performance from pitcher Greguorio Espora, who muffled the Santa Barbara offense en route to a tight 3-1 Lynx win at Lynx Stadium. Espora, the winner, moves to 6-2. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Calgary is now 33-39. Santa Barbara is 34-38.
One of the key players for the Lynx was catcher Júlio Vargas, who drilled a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth inning. For the game, Vargas went 1 for 3 with a double.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Calgary skipper Dave Lee.
